From the Bodhi Leaf to a World-Class Technology Park: Alibaba DAMO

Share:

Designed by Ken Wai, Global Design Director of Aedas, in collaboration with Executive Directors Wei Li and Feili Shen, the Alibaba DAMO Nanhu Industrial Park in Hangzhou has been completed.

Integrating modern offices, technology labs, and a reception center, this center creates a world-class research workspace in Hangzhou. Covering an area of 228,100 m², it is located at the heart of the Nanhu Science City, surrounded by natural landscapes and lush greenery. The design of the park mimics the shape of a Bodhi leaf, creating open courtyards and refreshing landscaped corridors within a heavy industrial environment.

Sustainable Architectural Features of the Alibaba DAMO Nanhu Industrial Park in Hangzhou:

The design, oriented eastward, creates terraced courtyard buildings.

Finger-shaped office buildings are arranged parallel to the landscaped corridors, while the cafeteria and public amenities are positioned at the center of the campus along the north-south axis.

The combination of landscape and architecture creates a peaceful yet dynamic environment.

The flexible column grid structure of the office buildings allows for adjustable layouts, integrating office and conference spaces.

The fusion of culture and technology helps create a unique architectural space, serving as a model for future office and workplace designs.
