Concept WRRF Yixing: Breakthrough in Wastewater Treatment Process

The Concept WRRF Yixing project is a forward-thinking wastewater treatment facility, aiming to transform traditional wastewater treatment plants into sustainable recycling plants.
This upgrade will also convert a pollution control plant into a green, eco-friendly infrastructure that is open to the public, integrated with the surrounding area, and ready for scientific education. Covering an area of 8 hectares, the project includes a wastewater treatment plant, a waste and organic material processing center, a scientific management center, and an experimental zone.
Sustainable architectural strategies of Concept WRRF Yixing, designed by THAD SUP Atelier:
- The terrain is planned with high density, using land efficiently and integrating landscape with architecture.
- Wastewater is treated into clean water, fertilizers, and renewable energy such as biogas and thermal energy.
- A special "Tank Cafe" is attached to the south wall of the sedimentation tank, which can be transformed into a multifunctional meeting room or exhibition space.
- This area allows people to feel, experience, and enjoy the changes in nature and the diversity of the ecological environment.
- The architectural planning and design respect and integrate the water and waste treatment processes.
- After the water treatment processes, the produced water can be applied in production and used to supply both urban and rural ecological systems.
