Aruma SplitGarden Sustainable Design Solution for Tropical Environment

Share:

Split Garden was created to address the rising value of land, exploring how multi-layered design can evolve, creating distinct areas within a site with multiple tenants, while also integrating nature into the built environment on a relatively small area.

This design incorporates elements such as roofs, facades, walls, cross-beam structures, and interior elements, all within a modern design that blends with the tropical environment of the commercial area. Integrated elements like natural light, greenery, views of nature, natural materials, and other sensory experiences are brought into the buildings and spaces.

The building's design is oriented north-south to preserve the existing greenery in the backyard. This approach aims to expand the spatial experience by creating a wind tunnel connecting two large trees at both ends.

Architectural elements of Split Garden, designed by RAD+ar:

  • Multi-layered design: Creates distinct areas for multiple tenants.
  • Blending with nature: Integrates natural light, greenery, and natural materials.

  • North-south orientation: Preserves existing greenery and creates a wind tunnel connection.
  • Space optimization: Seamless transition between commercial spaces.
  • Gardens between spaces: Ensures smooth connection between different materials and components.

  • Use of sustainable materials: Minimizes material usage and energy consumption.
  • Commitment to sustainability: Educates users on sustainable design features.
  • Inspiration for sustainable development: Encourages developers in developing countries like Indonesia to pursue sustainability.
